Recensione Concerto - Londra, 28 Luglio 2010
You Changed a lot?!" e gli rispondo:" Really? I don't know!
"Ladies & Gentlements Please Welcome to PETER CINCOTTI!".
Appalusi, urla, standing ovation come: "Peter, Peter, Peter!".
See you in ITALY!!!!!" e lui risp sorpreso e con un sorriso: "Ah! Good! OK! See you there!

(English Version) Concert Review - London, July 28, 2010
(London - Camden-Town) The Italian Site arrived in London!
The Tour of Peter is at the 2nd show - see what happened:
The city of London has proved from the outset that a city works: the airport, train station with its swarming "ordered" and much English, of course, a city where the optical size begins to expand by force: the houses, palaces and lush
massive, busy roads and large, cars, buses and a sea of taxi .... despite the fatigue of travel I already feeling about: 'Here I am feel good!'
Camden-Town the area where is located the venue concert, is multicolors, crowded and full of interesting shops, from "Pret a Manger," "Starbucks" Burger-something and an infinite number of small shops / bazaars run by Pakistanis / Indians, so unfortunately is not exactly the ideal time for shopping, it's afternoon around the classic tea time; Camden Tube station, with its bustle emerges at the intersection with Parkway St. and Camden High St. ; my black cab, the classic of London stops at the entrance of Jazz Cafe: it's open! I notice that at the door is chaired by a guy leaning against the wall absorbed in reading the various programs, unusual presence - then I will find out later that he is just a spectator lurking in advance .... as I do.
After a series of different spins around killing time and waiting for "someone" appears on the horizon; I turn the corner in the direction of the club I see Scott in the crowd, busy in arrying instrument cases etc.. from a taxi; I approach him to greet and introduce myself explainging that I'm the founder of the Italian web site, then I talk to the girl on the entrance to be officially at Sound-Check!
I came inside the venue room: on the right, there are sofas; in front the bar with a myriad of bottles - what else?! - The club is really an intimate room with a small stage with the agglomerate of microphones, speakers, drums, piano at center, keyboards and the red keyboard; space for the public is typical of these clubs with standing places and the balcony-loft with reservation tables where you can dine comfortably and watch the concert; I have opted for a "standing tix" and I comfortably resting on the stage, straight in the eyes of Peter, with a panoramic view of his hands on the piano keyboard that literally roll with elegance chords by chords in a flurry of notes often improvised!
Back about the sound check: once inside I see the guys on stage, there are Obed and Daniel who are arranging some things to start, I come close to them with a giant smile and saying "HI GUYS!" -
Daniel nods his head and smiled and say "HI!" - it's already something to this man constantly absorbed! - Obed smiles and maybe he has a flashback of 1 year back (coz last year he skipped the tour) He say: "Hi, how are you?! You Changed a lot?" and I reply: "Really?" I do not know! Maybe Because my hair, That Are Too Long Now! hahaha " in the meantime reached the stage PRod & Scott that they greet me with a nod, a smile and a soft" HI! " then I sit down to the sofas talking about this and that with Obed; as a movie script at the end comes naturally - "the star" - PETER!
He discusses about what to do with Scott and all the guys around him, after this reunion, Peter & Scott still stay to talk about then I stealthily approached him to say 'hello': Finally! I came to him from his side facing between them emitting a sound similar to a "Sorry!" continuing with a warm "Hi Peter!"; that for a while he cannot believe his eyes; surprised he focuses saying: "Hey, hey hiii, How Are You??" I reply:"Hi Peter, I'm fine Thanks!...." then I ask if he has two minutes for talking, he say "Yes, OK" then he stops to talk to me for a while, then says he say: "sorry but I must move and go..." I obviously do not want to bother him at least they're 'working'! I sheltered myself to the sofas.
Meanwhile, Peter leaves the club going outside by the same door through which I entered and returns shortly after with in his hand a big-glass from "Sturbucks" (it's pretty likely that it was a Frappuccino! - OMG at 7 pm!! He is really a New Yorker guy !!!!!)
shortly before another boy - Clement - that met Peter in the street; he asked him about the admission to attend the sound-check and Peter gives him the OK - Clement is a big fan and aspiring pianist, who I met last year at the concert in Venaria (Italy); we start talking about the concert of the night before - because he was at the show in Harrogate too - he tell me that nothwithstanding some mistake about the sound everything has gone well and he could attend the sound check as well, also showing me a photo with Peter at Backstage; Scott calls us a part telling us to stay in the front of the stage.... (standing! So .... okay .... for this kind of privilege I can resist standing with sandals! hahaha ) we move instantly near there and the soundcheck starts it takes place in calm, normal "frenzy" of the sound engineer who tries a cable rather than another, modifying effect, volume from the console under the instructions of the guys and Peter that wearing the earphones says, "it's too loud .... I can not hear the piano ......" then they turn to test the level of microphones, they start playing some songs as 'Nothing's Enough', 'Be Careful' a touch of 'Madeline' and other scraps of songs at "critical point" about the appropriate technical things with the sound and acoustics.
So Right that the time flies when you spent in in the best way .... so ... as they say, it become a certain time that Peter finished sound-check and retires himself in closet, loft area, till the start of the show.
The Show: the wait is much longer than 1 hour or better 2...people starting to flow slowly in the room towards 19:30 and the concert is scheduled for 21.30.
It's not sold out but there are different groups of friends and fans; opening the evening is an English boy armed with a guitar and grit (which currently I do not have his name, but I will provide to take!) he turn up the enthusiasm and the moods of the audience; he has a voice and songs with cool lyrics and great sound (if this guy continues on this way we could hear from him in the future, who knows?) but now it is time that Peter reach his audience and rode the wave of enthusiasm of the moment: he finally comes out from the dressing room walking between tables through the loft, where people have just finished dinner and was now sipping beer or drinks; thunderous applause accompanying him and whispers that filled the restaurant turns into a hushed silence of waiting, the lights go down and focus only on the steps to the right of the stage .... Peter is there behind the column (which is playing hide and seek?) waiting until the voice of Scott announce his arrival on stage .. .. "Ladies & Gentlements Please Welcome to Peter Cincotti."
He walk down the stairs an with a nod he greet the audience; he is in a gray suit - how nice is to see him on stage! - shyly he sits at the lighting piano then the show begins with the notes of "Make it out alive" - coz on this tour Peter has made changes to the track list - in fact follows the song "Broken Children" performed at the Red Keyboard. [Video]
Peter is concentrated he got completely absorbed from the usual intro to the piece that provides complete freedom of improvisation that combines known and new effects from a clearly "different planet" (maybe the moon?! See 'On the Moon' ) finding time to time the sound that repeats almost endlessly as if it were enchanted, but he is not because the music enchants and intoxicates the audience. In the breaks between songs Peter entertain people introducing songs gradually pointing to anecdotes about their composing or regarding the lyrics ....
It 's a great and wonderful feeling to see them and especially Peter on stage so full of energy, that energy seems like if the notes he did gonna to explode in the air when flowing out from the piano, that every time become part of each other; it's an explosion of music with the now classic song "Angel Town", "Be Careful", which fuse seems to come from the heart.
The central part show let space for new songs like the sweet and poignant 'Madeline', the pleasant 'Take a good look', continuing with the seductive 'Velvet pillows' and sharp 'Graffiti wall' with the audience enthusiastic of these new tunes!!!!
At the end of the show the two classic ballad, 'Cinderella Beautiful' and 'Goodbye Philadelphia' for which light up standing ovation of thunderous applause and acclaim, is the romantic part of the concert, these ballads although are well known, each time you can re-listen them are still pleased and give feelings; so great is hear the crowd singing along to Peter "...Lay your body down ..."!
The atmosphere changes Peter began to mention the first known notes of the cover 'Love is Gone', we start again with the adrenaline bouncing everywhere, the audience jumps and sways with the music ....
Peter finished the cover and the band greet retreating in loft area.
The acclamation is strong here, they want an encore! Claps, screaming, standing ovation as: "Peter, Peter, Peter!". Few moments and Peter returns to the stage for a solo performance of 'The Country Life' beautifully executed; one of the sweetest songs, romantic and full of feelings ....
After this beautiful moment, I would say soft and cozy, where we all fell, here comes again the band preparing to perform the last song of the evening: 'Witch's Brew' that is a masterpiece song of arrangement, with contrasts and juxtapositions of styles ranging of classical, rock, amazing to watch so closely the ability of his hands rolling and the rapid movements his fingers on the pianokeys - almost smoking - the crescendo of the song, the classical piece at the center of the song that explode as a motor acceleration to win the finish line!
Peter thanks & greets with the band walking the stairs to the dressing room.
The audience local emptied quickly, some groups of friends still talk; the band guys are already on stage to fix things themself, such as Daniel's keyboards, Prod guitar, Scott on sax, and Obed strolling etc. .... Meanwhile it is time to talk with them of this and that and also about the impressions of the evening, taking photos etc. ... waiting Mr. Cincotti fall from "that Olympus dressing room" to greet him.
It's can be deduced - by word 'waiting' - that as usual he is the last to get off from there: he is caring his bag and an hanging with the pinstripe involucre of "Zegna"; it's quickly - and painlessly- all the boys are already waiting him outside, Peter came down from the secondary stairs directly into the club-room where I'm waiting with Clement and other guys, some photos, a quick greeting to those present with a handshake: "Hi, Thanks you all, Thanks for coming!" I keep hold his hand, saying, "Hi, Peter, thanks to you too! See you in ITALY !!!!!" and he reply surprised with a smile: "Oh Good! OK! See you there! Thanks for everything!" and in 3 steps he was already outside the door, where a taxi in which Daniel Prod, Obed and Scott .....are already seated.
I leave the club thanking that magic place of Jazz Cafe ... for a fantastic evening and all the emotions and memories that it gave me, that I will never forget.
The moment I step outside the door I see the taxi of Peter in front of the local, stop at the traffic light .... in a while crossing the gaze of Peter looking in that direction, he sees me and smiles; I smile him back and I waved my hand ....
It's green! The taxi go, I follow it with the sight, I can see his head from the back, the taxi take the street opposite and whiz in the lights of the night .....
Bye Peter!! I'll see you in Rome in 2 days! - (The concert the day after in Lucerne for him)
Thanks for this wonderful evening!
Thank you for this wonderful experience in London, another place I had not yet the pleasure to visit!
Thanks for your great kindness and gentleness!
Thank you for your wonderful talent!
Thanks to the guys: Obed, PRod, Daniel and Scott!
